You don’t need to download anything to play the 67 Challenge. There’s a free browser version available at play.67challenges.com that works on any smartphone with a front camera.
Here’s everything you need to know about the web version.
How the online version works
The browser version uses the same on-device AI as the app — Google’s MediaPipe hand detection framework — running entirely inside your browser via WebAssembly. When you open the page:
- Your browser asks for camera permission
- The front camera activates
- Show both hands — detection starts automatically
- Wave as fast as you can for 20 seconds
- Your score appears at the end
No account, no sign-up, no download required.
Browser vs app: what’s different?
| Feature | Browser | App |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free | Free |
| 20-second mode | ✅ | ✅ |
| 40-second Extended | ❌ | VIP |
| 60-second Marathon | ❌ | VIP |
| Global leaderboard | ✅ | ✅ |
| Offline play | ❌ | ✅ |
| Share score card | ✅ | ✅ |
The core game is identical. The browser version doesn’t support VIP modes, and you need an internet connection to load the page — but once it loads, the detection runs locally.
Which browsers work?
The web version works best on:
- Chrome on Android or iOS
- Safari on iPhone (iOS 16+)
- Chrome on desktop (webcam required)
Older iOS Safari (below 16) may struggle with WebAssembly performance. If detection feels slow or inaccurate, try updating your browser or switching to the app.
Tips specific to the browser version
Allow camera in the URL bar — Safari on iPhone sometimes shows a small lock icon. Tap it and make sure camera access is set to “Allow” for the site.
Use portrait mode — The detection model is optimized for portrait phone orientation. Landscape orientation sometimes causes frame-rate issues on mobile browsers.
Reload if detection stalls — On older devices, memory pressure can cause the WebAssembly model to freeze. A page reload fixes it in seconds.

If you’re playing regularly, the app gives you a faster load time, offline access, and the option to unlock Extended (40s) and Marathon (60s) modes.
